Registration Deadline: Tuesday, February 2, 2021
An Introduction to Karnatik Music. Lead by performer, composer and scholar Rajna Swaminathan (GLFCAM Fellow Cycle 12), this course will explore the constellation of rhythmic and melodic concepts that emerge from South Indian Karnatik music. Listening examples and interactive modules will guide participants deeper into having a feel for the sounds and structures, while discussions about social and historical context provide perspective on future possibilities for experimentation. Varun Rangaswamy will be contributing as Rajna’s research assistant, and the Happy Hour will feature additional special guest artists.
